WHY PRACTICUMS AT FVACFSS

Community

Not only is Everyone at FVACFSS part of a large, supportive community, but so are you when you join us.

Culture

Serving an area comprised of 18 aboriginal communities, we have a rich culture that welcomes all.

Purpose

The work we do with children, families, and communities is essential to making lives better.

Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society (FVACFSS) is a fully delegated Agency providing culturally appropriate and holistic services through various programs to Aboriginal children and families residing on and off reserve communities in the Fraser Valley.

FVACFSS believes in the importance of volunteers and practicum students to further enhance our program goals and future staffing recruitment initiatives. If you have a genuine interest in promoting the values of Aboriginal culture and self-governance, use your Child Welfare Social Work knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley we’d love to hear from you.

It’s about more than making a salary – it’s about making a difference.

Training

Signs of Safety

The Signs of Safety is an innovative strengths-based, safety-organised approach to child protection casework.

Child Welfare Specialization Certified

FVACFSS is a Designated Aboriginal Agency and we’re child welfare specialization certified. This means we can sign off on your child welfare specialization too!

Realistic
Look

As a practicum student, you’ll see and experience, first-hand, what we do everyday and see how it helps the children, families, and communities we support. You’ll work with a team that handles a variety of tasks and programs.

A Different Perspective

It’s important we see through the eyes of those we’re helping to understand better how to tailor our support. As a student at FVACFSS, you will learn to deliver the right support by experiencing many perspectives and understandings.

Meaningful
