In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.

Not only is Everyone at FVACFSS part of a large, supportive community, but so are you when you join us.

Serving an area comprised of 18 aboriginal communities, we have a rich culture that welcomes all.

The work we do with children, families, and communities is essential to making lives better.

Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society (FVACFSS) is a fully delegated Agency providing culturally appropriate and holistic services through various programs to Aboriginal children and families residing on and off reserve communities in the Fraser Valley.

FVACFSS believes in the importance of volunteers and practicum students to further enhance our program goals and future staffing recruitment initiatives. If you have a genuine interest in promoting the values of Aboriginal culture and self-governance, use your Child Welfare Social Work knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley we’d love to hear from you.

It’s about more than making a salary – it’s about making a difference.

Working in the Fraser Valley has benefits for life…

Small Town Community

The Fraser Valley is a great place to live and raise a family.

Affordable Life

Affordable housing and a lower cost of living.

Great Outdoors

Connect with nature at the many lakes, forests, and parks!

Familiar Facilities

Alongside nature, enjoy quick access to the amenities you're used to.

…and we have benefits for you…

FVACFSS provides practicum students with the tools and opportunities necessary to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle and become actively involved with the work performed on a daily basis.

We are growing rapidly, and we need people like you to continue making a difference. Many of our practicum students stay with us full-time after graduation and are positioned for growth and success, having gained experience with us already.

Signs of Safety

The Signs of Safety is an innovative strengths-based, safety-organised approach to child protection casework.

Child Welfare Specialization Certified

FVACFSS is a Designated Aboriginal Agency and we’re child welfare specialization certified. This means we can sign off on your child welfare specialization too!

As a practicum student, you’ll see and experience, first-hand, what we do everyday and see how it helps the children, families, and communities we support. You’ll work with a team that handles a variety of tasks and programs.

A Different Perspective

It’s important we see through the eyes of those we’re helping to understand better how to tailor our support. As a student at FVACFSS, you will learn to deliver the right support by experiencing many perspectives and understandings.

You will often have the opportunity to get involved in various culturally focused family events and activities. In many cases, helping someone is as easy as having fun.

Ready to apply? Anyone can!

Anyone in a related university program can apply for a practicum, regardless if you’re aboriginal or not!
